Mandarin Duck

I have heard about the mandarin duck in our area. Many times people have asked Me if I have seen him and I have responded no. I have mixed feelings about the popularity of this bird. I could not believe how many people showed up to see this bird. The normally empty viewing platform was filled.
Everyone was respectful of space. There were children who kept out of the way. Unusual because I often have my tripod accidentally kicked by one. The people who came surprised me in a good way.
I knew it is a wonderful brightly colored bird. We had several opportunities to view the bird both close up and far away. He was joined by his mate a female wood duck. They were very affectionate with each other.
