Red breasted Merganser

My wife and I were hiking on a boardwalk looking for birds. This is a boardwalk of several miles that meanders over the water of the wildlife refuge. We saw many different birds including a new bird that we had now seen before. A red breasted merganser.
The bird swam closer and closer. He would pause from time to time and preen and gyrate around in the water. This made for a lovely sight of beauty as the bird mixed water with feathers.
