Heritage Flight Museum

The Seattle area has a new museum with flight days when they put vintage aircraft in the air. The museum was founded by one of the astronauts from Apollo 8 - Bill Anders. There were several members of his family flying aircraft that day.

There is a section of the museum dedicated to the Apollo 8 mission which took place in 1968. A lot of things happened in 1968 year. We often forget how long a year is and the wall about that year is comprehensive and fascinating.

The day started at 10am and there were flights all day until around 4pm. They did a great job of providing plenty of shaded areas to watch the action. Each of the planes flew by at different times and it was fun catching them in the air.

I used my 100-500 lens exclusively and took full advantage of the range of zoom at different times which made it pretty easy to capture the images you see here. There was very little editing to do at the end. The hard part was picking the images down to the best. I am including a lot more than normal because each image tells a bit of the story of that day.
