Eagle Steal
January 27th, 2023
On a mildly cold winter day, I was spotted a bald eagle flying nearby. I watched as the bird circled above me. These birds often stay in areas where they watch the water from the trees. In some cases the birds catch fish or birds where we can see them but we cannot photograph them easily. I have often seen a bald eagle steal a fish from a great blue heron but always far off. This day was different.
This bald eagle flew purposefully towards an area to the right of me but I didn’t see the great blue heron until the sounds of protest arose. The eagle hovered and dove down on the great blue heron. At the time I didn’t see the object of interest. A real treat to watch and photograph.
