Stanwood Dog Park

May 25th, 2025

On this day I managed to walk out to the Stanwood dog park. The park is approximately a third of a mile from the parking lot. The path is level and easily navigated with little change in elevation. This is an enclosed space where the dogs can run free and our dog Ari loves it.

The first challenge was getting out there while carrying my 100-500mm which weighs around 15 pounds with the camera and booster pack. I used my harness to carry the camera so I could concentrate on keeping my balance and paying attention to the challenges with the added weight. On the whole a positive experience with little trouble but I did need to use my cane to steady me with the added weight.

The second challenge came when we got to the space. Normally I walk out to the middle edge of the park so I can get good light as the dogs run around. First the ground is uneven and second I need to get down on the ground. Both of these challenges took more time then just plopping down but I managed it. I just needed to be careful with movement to not tweak my ankle. No worries there.

Ari had a ball running a round with new friends and exhausted himself.

The walk back was about the same and that means over a half mile of workout which was awesome progress.
