Young being fed
May 26th, 2026
A fun walk through Juanita Bay park led to two different experiences. I got in early and walked the park looking for memorable moments. I was not disappointed as the needs of spring always brings out birds for food for their young or themselves. Not alot of people there but that is wonderful for a quiet morning.
The first was mallard duck females leading their young to places where they feasted on the vegetation. They swam back and forth feeding. The only challenge was the morning light at a tough angle. Eventually clouds started to help a bit and I got some magical light.
The second was a red-wing blackbird female repeatedly bring in food for her young one. The light angle here was perfect. The hard part was getting the birds when the mom flew in and then get a good angle.
