Surf Scoter meal

On my visit to Semiahmoo Spit, I encountered a Surf Scoter getting and consuming a meal. We saw flocks of this bird all over the water as we walked up and down the spit. It was a patience game to look for a place where I think the birds were headed and then wait. In this case I found a comfortable spot near the water edge and waited. I often was disappointed when the birds flew off. I didn’t give up and kept trying. I love the colors of this bird and this is the first time that I have seen this bird get a meal.
