Redwing Blackbird Female

The redwing blackbird females have started becoming more visible. I can often seem them flying around and exploring the areas around me. The males appeared more often first and now as we head towards spring I see more and more of the females. I see many different behaviors from the females.
They are busy building nests in nearby reeds. Nest materials appear in their mouths frequently. The birds gather the materials and carry them back to nest that ever grow in size. Some of them far away from the view platform where we can only see the birds move and out. Others are nearby where I look forward to seeing first the eggs and later the young as spring progresses.
