Otter

March 12th, 2022

An otter appeared in the distance on the water. One of the other people on the viewing platform spotted the otter and pointed. I didn’t get too excited because I have seen otters several times but they have never come very close. This otter was different.

The otter kept swimming closer and closer. Sometimes the otter would submerge briefly and then re-emerge after a brief time. I could follow the otter’s progress by the turbulence in the water. The water was so calm that it was barely only the wake of the otter showing change in the water.

As the otter drew closer to the shore, the reflections of the dried reeds in the water added beautiful color to the water. A beautiful sight to see the otter swimming to the shore until submerging for the last time.
