Iverson Spit

October 23rd, 2024

We went for a walk today after work. Marcia, Ari, and I climbed into the car and drove over to one of the nearby parks by the water. Lots of space to walk and a good place to look for birds. The birds are here because of the abundance of berries in the bushes. These bushes line the pathways as you walk down the paths.

I was experimenting with the RF600mm F4 that I just purchased. My goal is to get comfortable with hand holding the lens. To facilitate carrying the load of the lens, I used a carrying strap to help me carry it in my hand. Still definitely a struggle at times but transferring some weight to my shoulder helped me shoot longer and steadier.

Lots to learn including finding small birds in the viewfinder. Birds like robins and song sparrows can be a challenge among the myriad of branches. I was using F4 aperture which made it hard to find the birds as the camera kept focusing on the intervening branches. A lot to get better at here and looking forward to working more on that.
