Great Blue Landing
March 5th, 2022
I was in the midst of photographing a kingfisher and waiting for the bald eagle to appear. The day was progressing towards sunset and the light was improving to the lovely soft light of the late afternoon. This kind of light does make it challenge to avoid shooting more towards the sun where the shadows on the birds are towards me. So I keep that in mind as I shoot.
As we were shooting, a great blue heron flew across the platform and landed to the right of the platform. It was a quick moment that is really hard to be prepared to move the camera follow the bird. You have find bird in the viewfinder which can be a challenge. And then you have to make sure that exposure is near something that you can use.
