BlackCapped Chickadee

May 3rd, 2022

I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to go out today. I had several appointments waiting for people to arrive and their estimates were a helpful between 6am and 8pm. Then there was the weather with heavy rain which would make the light dimmer and the bird less evident. And then there were the aches and pains from frequent excursions out over the course of the past month as the weather has gotten better.

My schedule cleared up and the weather got marginally better. I could see some brightness off in the distance as I pulled out of my garage. There was a little rain when I was driving but not much. When I got to the parking lot, clear of rain and marginal clouds.

I wandered the park looking in typical spots looking for birds to photograph. I have found that I am now healthier and can walk quite a bit more than a year ago. The tripod and camera can get heavy after a while but worth it when I come up on something eye catching. Several times I saw a flicker and many other random birds but they would disappear before I could raise my camera.

I had resigned myself to the idea that today was for exercise when I wandered into an area where there was a black capped chickadee. The bird was intent on consuming the vegetation on the bushes around me. It took patience for the bird to land outside of the concealing foliage which he did. The resulting images are some of the best I have taken of this bird so far.
