Why Wildlife?
My wildlife photography is about the challenge of find an elusive subject in nature in the right light and in an interesting viewpoint. It is not just about getting a picture, but about getting a picture of an animal that shows some aspect of the animals personality.
Wildlife requires a dedication of time to learn the right place and time to go to view the animal safely for both myself and the subject. I follow the advice of one of my mentor’s that no photograph is worth the well being of the animal I am photographing.
I am especially drawn to the challenge of capturing a bird in flight. The process of patiently waiting for the bird to move and capturing that moment. I often have to wait long periods of time while the bird does nothing. Sometimes I just come upon a bird in exactly the right position.
