The Moses Lake Airshow started with a series of remote control planes demonstrating their abilities. The controllers manipulated the planes in all kinds of interesting way. Hard to see in the images but they put the planes upside down, propeller up, and a myriad of other choices that were amazing and also impossible for human pilot to do. Was amazing.
At one point there was a impact which destroyed one plane and damaged the other. We missed seeing it happen, but the debris field told the story as they cascaded down to the ground. The second partially damaged plane landed safely on the grass. Sad to see the damaged aircraft which was basically just a pile of twisted metal and plastic.
One thing I learned is the smoke trail really tells the story well. You can see where the plane has been and it really shows up well. I wish more of the equipment was setup that way.
